Paul Gibson - Manhattan Project/ Three Mile Island (Inc. Original & Narel Mixes) - [Crystal Source/ Unearthed Records] Release 05 Nov, 2012

Never too far away from Crystal Source is Paul Gibson, who is back once again with a stunning two track EP. First up out of the blocks, once again continuing his nuclear theme to match his radio show, is Manhattan Project. Paul showing he means business here with a chunky beat, swirly acids, classic arpeggios and a big plucky main riff backed by a lovely melodic guitar, this one has got a lot of character.
Next up is Three Mile Island, an equally strong track with some very clever percussion lines. Here, Paul drives the track up from a melancholic build line, slowly teasing in more and more melodic elements before dropping into an exquisite breakdown and euphoric main section.
Rounding up proceedings is a quality breaks remix of Three Mile Island from Narel. There is something about this remix that oozes the feel of the Planisphere tracks of around 10 years ago, with the attention to detail and sombre undertones of the melody, Narel has really unleashed a quality alternative to the usual trance we have grown to know and love here on CSR.
